Our Service Philosophy

At Sutherland Street Out of School Hours care we believe that:

  • All children have the right to the best we can offer them in terms of their education and care which includes natural exploration.
  • Each child has the right to live a full and productive life in an environment which builds confidence, friendship, security and happiness, irrespective of their family circumstances and background.
  • Our aim is to provide an environment which provokes thought and imagination for every individual child.
  • Each child is encouraged to develop a broad set of skills to enable them to prepare for live long learning with enthusiasm.
  • We offer flexible child oriented programs which encourages free choice and constructive play while providing security and stimulation to support children.
  • We aim to provide scaffolded programming which will introduce children to new concepts.
  • All children are given equal opportunity but have differing talents and needs to be supported in a safe, caring and educational environment.
  • All children are accepted regardless of gender or race. The individual needs of the children are integrated into the programs.

Spring  Holiday Program 2018.

Details of the days planned will be available on the School Holidays Pages of this website closer to the school holidays.

In July 2018 the Federal Government will introduce changes to the Family Tax Act which meant that families will receive the Childcare Subsidy (CCS) instead of the CCB and CCR paid previously.

The new CCSS Changes from the 2/7/18 include the Ceased Status of a CCS Enrolment when:

  • There are no submitted attendances for the child for 8 weeks for the Service (ie they only attend Vacation Care)
  • There are 8 weeks of continual absences being submitted for the child for the Service

The CCS Enrolment will become CEASED.

When the child returns to care the Ceased enrolment will need to be re-activated and the Guardian will be prompted to confirm via the MyGov that their child has re-commenced care at the Service to allow any entitlements to be applied to the Account.

More information on the changes about to be introduced is available from the D.H.H.S. website
